Chingari Shakti Foundation and
Rotary club of Bombay, Mahakali Heights joined hands to come forward and help
children’s suffering from Thalassemia by organizing blood donation camp on 31st
January 2021, at Sher E Punjab Gurudwara, Langar hall in Andheri East.
Around 73 donors across Mumbai
came forward to support this social cause organized with the help of Hi-tech
Blood Bank on Sunday.
The doctors & the medical
staff of Hi-tech Blood Bank were very prominent in their jobs and making this
blood donation drive a successful one.
The entire Kohli Family along
with 82 years lady came forward for donation. The True Rotary and Chingari
Samaritan’s for the saving the lives of Thalassemia children.
It was difficult to get donors
for patients suffering from Thalassemia. “It is a blood disorder necessitating
regular blood transfusions. It is one among the 21 types of disability recognised
by the government. But many patients suffering from Thalassemia struggle to
find donors for thalassemia.
All the donors were screened
before donation of blood. They were asked whether they had any contact with
COVID-19 positive patients or any travel history. It was ensured that all had
face masks and washed their hands before donating blood.
The fear that blood donation
during the current crisis would make donors susceptible to COVID-19 infection
was completely unfounded.
