Sakhi - Hindustan Zinc’s comprehensive approach to Women Empowerment through MSMEs

 

Small Industry Day is recognised each year on 30th August. This day is celebrated nationally with the aim of promoting the second largest employment generating sector – the Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. Small industries have a critical role in the economic development of a country like India. With around 36.1 million units, it has been reported that MSMEs contribute around 6.11 per cent of the manufacturing GDP and 24.63 per cent of the GDP from service activities. MSME industries employee 120 million people and further has the potential to enhance its contribution to GDP up to 50 per cent by 2025.



Standing true to their commitment towards nation building, Hindustan Zinc under its Micro Enterprise initiative - Sakhi Utpadan Samiti, aims to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities to rural and tribal women in five districts of Rajasthan – Ajmer, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand & Udaipur and Pantnagar in Uttarakhand.



Keeping ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ as their core principle, Hindustan Zinc’s Sakhi Utpadan Samiti runs 4 Agri-businesses and 2 Textile units that employs 130+ Sakhi women and sources high quality, chemical-free produce from rural women farmers. They offer a fine range of agricultural and textile products for sale across India. Sakhi Self Help Group program are in alignment with the government’s efforts on financial inclusion of women to encourage women entrepreneurship.

‘Katori’ and ‘Upaya’ - Sakhi’s marketing entities that bridge the gap between rural women and the end consumer work in tandem with women’s collectives to aid in their evolution into independent and sustainable businesses. Mr. Arun Misra, CEO, Hindustan Zinc says on the program, “Our core philosophy of being ‘Vocal for Local’ promotes the growth of small industries, especially in our local communities. We believe in empowering our local communities with the power of entrepreneurship and skill development to move towards becoming an ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’. Our Sakhis are the catalysts of social change in our local communities and through collective microenterprises of our Sakhi Utpadan Samiti, we have skilled them, supported them and provided them with a platform to mainstream the social and financial inclusion of women in an equalitarian society.”

Gudiya Kanwar and Jamna Khatik are living proof of Mr. Arun Misra’s vision of creating a platform to make promote women entrepreneurs has been successfully taking shape. Gudiya, who works in the Pickle Unit in Kayad Village, Ajmer, Rajasthan, speaks about her experience, “Joining the picking unit has changed my life. Today, I am single handedly supporting my son’s education and financing the construction of our new home.  I hope to see our little unit transform into a pickle factory someday”. Gudiya who is the sole breadwinner of her family now earns between Rs. 4,000 to 5,000 per month.

Jamna Khatik, who works at the Textile unit in Bhilwara's Agucha Village, Rajasthan recalls, "I have learnt a lot at the unit. I was lagging when I joined but I didn't give up and over time, my speed in stitching has improved from 50 to 500 marks per day. My dream is to create my own stitching centre where I can give employment and teach other Sakhis, allowing them to enhance their social position in society.” Jamna began her journey with a monthly salary of Rs. 4000 – Rs.5000 now earns over Rs. 25,000. With her earnings, she was able to make a Fixed Deposit to secure her children's higher education.

Hindustan Zinc along with their Business Partners Manjari Foundation and Saheli Sameti have empowered women like Gudiya and Jamna from remote and marginalized sections by mobilizing and organizing them into Self-Help Groups and associated tiers. Over time, these SHGs are developed into credit-worthy financial vehicles that provide opportunities to its members to save and access credit through micro-finance for enterprise development. More importantly, there is a viable model that can be replicated for other women who now have the opportunity to pull themselves out of poverty and become financially and socially independent.

Hindustan Zinc has been running women empowerment interventions in local communities since 2006 and will continue to push the boundaries on this front. The project involves 194 functional village organisations (VOs) and 5 federations with 27,000+ women across seven locations. Sakhi addresses socio-economic challenges faced by women by developing their capacities in leadership, skill development, finance management and entrepreneurship. It is just one of the many interventions the company undertakes for the community that is one of the primary pillars of their operational ethos.

    फुलांची सजावट... ढोल ताशांचा गजर... राजेशाही थाट... उत्साहवर्धक वातावरण.... आणि या सगळ्या पारंपरिक सोहळ्यात 'ती'ची दिमाखदार एंट्री. पण, 'ती' कोण असा प्रश्न तुम्हा सगळ्यांना पडला असेल? जिच्या सदाबहार हास्याने आजही जगभरातील चाहत्यांच्या हृदयाची धक् धक् वाढते अशी आपली मराठी मुलगी माधुरी दीक्षित. निमित्त होतं 'प्लॅनेट मराठी ओटीटी'च्या ॲप लाँचचे. मागील काही महिन्यांपासून 'प्लॅनेट मराठी ओटीटी’ प्रेक्षकांच्या भेटीला येणार याची जोरदार चर्चा होती. या चर्चेला पूर्णविराम देत 'प्लॅनेट मराठी ओटीटी' अखेर प्रेक्षकांच्या भेटीला आले आहे. माधुरी दीक्षितच्या हस्ते 'प्लॅनेट मराठी ओटीटी'चा लोकार्पण सोहळा उत्साहात पार पडला. या वेळी 'प्लॅनेट मराठी'च्या 'म' या लोगोची पालखीतून मिरवणूकही काढण्यात आली. आज बॉलिवूडमध्ये आपली स्वतःची एक वेगळी ओळख निर्माण करणारी माधुरी दीक्षित या कार्यक्रमाच्या निमित्ताने 'प्लॅनेट मराठी ओटीटी'शी जोडली गेली आहे. या भव्य कार्यक्रमाला 'प्लॅनेट मराठी ओटीटी'चे प्रमुख संस्थपक अक्षय बर्दापूरकर यांच्यासह  'प्लॅनेट मराठी'च्या परिवारातील आणि मराठी मनोरंजन विश्वातील अमृता खानविलकर, तेजस्विनी पंडित, सिद्धार्थ जाधव, सोनाली कुलकर्णी, प्रसाद ओक, सचित पाटील, प्राजक्ता माळी, भार्गवी चिरमुले, गायत्री दातार, संजय जाधव, सोनाली खरे, सायली संजीव, सुरभी हांडे, निखिल महाजन, दीप्ती देवी, भाग्यश्री मिलिंद, रेशम श्रीवर्धनकर, सुशांत शेलार या तारे-तारकांनी हजेरी लावली होती.  



     सुरुवातीपासूनच 'प्लॅनेट मराठी'सोबत अनेक नावाजलेल्या व्यक्ती जोडल्या गेल्या. त्यात आता आपल्या सर्वांची लाडकी माधुरी दीक्षितही 'प्लॅनेट मराठी'च्या परिवारात सहभागी झाली आहे. यापूर्वीच 'प्लॅनेट मराठी ओटीटी'वर राष्ट्रीय -आंतरराष्ट्रीय चित्रपट महोत्सवांवर आपली मोहोर उमटवणारा 'जून' चित्रपट प्रदर्शित झाला असून यापुढे प्रेक्षकांना 'प्लॅनेट मराठी ओटीटी'वर 'सोप्पं नसतं काही', 'हिंग पुस्तक तलवार', 'जॉबलेस', 'बाप बीप बाप', आणि 'परीस' या वेगवेगळ्या धाटणीच्या वेबसिरीज आणि काही मनोरंजनात्मक आणि दर्जेदार चित्रपट पाहता येणार आहेत. मनोरंजनाचा हा खजिना वेबसिरीज, वेबफिल्म्स आणि चित्रपटांपुरताच मर्यादित नसून हळूहळू प्रेक्षकांना 'प्लॅनेट मराठी ओटीटी'च्या जादुई पोतडीतून नवनवीन कंटेन्ट मिळणार आहे. हा कंटेन्ट सर्व वयोगटातील प्रेक्षकांसाठी असून येत्या वर्षभरात तब्बल २४ वेबसिरीज प्रेक्षकांसाठी उपलब्ध होणार आहेत. सध्या ४० मराठी चित्रपटांचा आस्वाद प्रेक्षकांना घेता येणार असून पुढील तीन महिन्यांत ही संख्या सुमारे तिपट्टीहून अधिक असेल. वेगवेगळ्या क्षेत्रातल्या मान्यवरांच्या मुलाखती टॉक शो या विभागात असणार आहेत. पारंपरिक संगीतापासून ते आधुनिक संगीतापर्यंत तब्बल २० सांगितिक मैफिलींचा आनंद संगीतप्रेमींना घेता येणार आहे. तर आगामी काळात म्युझिक व्हिडिओज, पॅाडकास्ट, कॅराओके, कॉन्सर्ट्स, गेमिफिकेशन असे विविध प्रकार प्रेक्षकांना अनुभवता येतील. हे ॲप प्रेक्षकांना मराठी तसेच इंग्रजी या दोन्ही भाषेत वापरता येईल.

        प्रेक्षकांच्या भेटीला आलेल्या 'प्लॅनेट मराठी ओटीटी'बद्दल 'प्लॅनेट मराठी ओटीटी'चे प्रमुख संस्थापक अक्षय बर्दापूरकर म्हणतात, ''आज इतक्या महिन्यांची आमची मेहनत फळाला आली आहे.         लवकरच आपल्या सर्वांच्या लाडक्या बाप्पाचे आगमन होणार असून सगळीकडे उत्साहाचे वातावरण आहे. हाच उत्साह द्विगुणित करण्यासाठी बाप्पाचे 'देवा गणराया' हे गाणे लवकरच प्रेक्षकांच्या भेटीला येणार आहे. या गाण्याचे टिझर पोस्टर नुकतेच सोशल मिडीयावर प्रदर्शित झाले असून या जल्लोषमय गाण्याला स्वप्नील बांदोडकर याचा आवाज लाभला आहे. या गाण्याच्या चित्रीकरणाचा मुहूर्त सोहळा ठाणे मनपा चे अतिरिक्त आयुक्त संदीप माळवी यांच्या हस्ते पार पडला. सगळीकडे आनंदाचे वातावरण निर्माण करणारे हे गाणे चिन्मय उदगीरकर आणि रूपाली भोसले यांच्यावर चित्रित झाले असून संदीप माळवी यांनीच हे गाणे शब्दबद्ध केले आहे. सुमन एन्टरटेन्मेंट आणि मिडिया प्रा. लि. प्रस्तूत या गाण्याचे संगीत चिनार-महेश यांनी केले असून गाण्याची निर्मिती केदार जोशी यांनी केली आहे.

Mumbai, August 23, 2021: Nuvoco Vistas Corporation Limited, India’s fifth largest cement company by capacity; listed on BSE at Rs. 471 at 17.36% discount over its issue price. The scrip got listed at NSE at Rs. 485 per share, a 14.91 % per cent discount over its issue price of Rs 570The shares of the company at day end closed at Rs. 531.30 per share on BSE and Rs. 529 per share on NSE.




 

The initial public offering was offered at a lower price band of Rs 560 per share and higher price band of Rs 570.

 

As per BSE, the total quantity traded stood at 8.12 lac shares with a delivery quantity percentage of 20.36%. Quantity traded and delivery percentage at NSE was approx. 2.20 crore shares and 52.01 % respectively. Total Turnover (BSE+NSE) on Day 1 stood at Rs 1210.38 crore.

 

The Market Capitalization of the Company post today’s closing price stood at Rs. 18,976 crores as per BSE and Rs. 18,893.56 crores as per NSE.

 

The total Offer size was up to Rs. 5,000 crores with a fresh issuance of Equity Shares, aggregating up to Rs. 1,500 crores and an offer for sale of Equity Shares aggregating up to Rs. 3,500 crores, by Selling Shareholder. The portion reserved for retail investors was subscribed 0.73 times. While the Qualified Institutional Buyer category was subscribed 4.23 times, the Non-Institutional Investor category was subscribed 0.66 times and overall Issue was subscribed 1.71 times.

 

In comparison to other major cement producing countries, India exhibits the lowest per capita cement consumption at 200-250 kg, which is nearly half of world average of 500-550 kg. China has the highest per capita cement consumption of 1650-1750 kg, followed by Korea at 900-950 kg. However, despite a low per capita cement consumption, India is the second largest cement consumer in the world behind China. Crisil Research expects cement demand to register a CAGR of 6-7% in FY21-26, driven by a raft of infrastructure investments and healthy revival in housing demand.

Canara Bank Successfully raised capital of Rs. 2500 crores through QIP

 





Bengaluru, 25 August 2021: Canara Bank, the third-largest Public Sector Bank in the country has successfully raised capital of Rs. 2500 crores through Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP). The QIP opened on August, 17th 2021 and closed on August, 23rd 2021. The QIP was fully subscribed and saw a strong response from foreign as well as from domestic Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs), highlighting a well-diversified representation and demand from across the world. The last issuance was in December 2020 which was also fully subscribed. This capital will enable the bank to improve the CET ratio and in turn, will support further asset growth.

Mumbai, August 24, 2021: Aptus Value Housing Finance India Limited, one of the largest housing finance companies in South India in terms of asset under management and having the largest branch network in South India among the peer set, as of March 31, 2021 (Source: CRISIL Report)listed on BSE at Rs. 329.95 at 6.53% discount over its issue price. The scrip got listed at NSE at Rs. 333 per share, a 5.66 % per cent discount over its issue price of Rs 353The shares of the company at day end closed at Rs. 346.50 per share on BSE and Rs. 352 per share on NSE.

 

The initial public offering was offered at a lower price band of Rs 346 per share and higher price band of Rs 353.

 

As per BSE, the total quantity traded stood at 16.21 lac shares with a delivery quantity percentage of 62.32%. Quantity traded and delivery percentage at NSE was approx. 3.25 crore shares and 66.47 % respectively. Total Turnover (BSE+NSE) on Day 1 stood at Rs 1176.29 crore.

 

The Market Capitalization of the Company post today’s closing price stood at Rs. 17,171.87 crores as per BSE and Rs. 17,444.44 crores as per NSE. 

 

The Offer was comprising of a fresh issuance of Equity Shares, aggregating up to Rs.500 crores and an offer for sale of Equity Shares aggregating up to 64,590,695 Equity Shares by the Selling Shareholders. The portion reserved for retail investors was subscribed 1.35 times. While the Qualified Institutional Buyer category was subscribed 32.41 times, the Non-Institutional Investor category was subscribed 33.91 times.

Mumbai/Kochi, 20 August 2021: Incorporated in the year 1998, a systemically important non-deposit taking NBFC in the gold loan sector, Muthoottu Mini Financers Limited (“Muthoottu Mini”/ ‘MMFL’), public issue of Secured and Unsecured Debentures (“NCDs”) of the face value of Rs. 1,000 each is now open.

 

The 15th NCD Issue has a Base Issue Size of Rs. 125 crores, with an option to retain over-subscription up to Rs. 125 crores, aggregating up to a total of Rs. 250 crores. The NCD Issue offers various options for subscription of NCDs with coupon rates ranging from 8.75% - 10.00% p.a. The NCD Issue opened on August 18, 2021 and closes on September 09, 2021, with an option of early closure or extension.

 

As on 31st March 2021, MMFL had 3,86,110 gold loan accounts, predominately from rural and semi urban areas, aggregating to Rs. 1,935.10 crores which accounted for 97.04% of its total loans and advances. The yield on its gold assets during the last three fiscals have increased from 19.17% in FY2019 to 19.57% as on FY2021. Its net Non-Performing Assets for FY2021 stood at 0.75%, which is lower from 1.39% reported in the FY2019.

 

In addition to its gold loan business, it offers micro finance loan, depository participant, money transfer, insurance broking, PAN card related and travel agency services.

 

The Company, erstwhile part of a family business enterprise that was founded by Ninan Mathai Muthoottu in 1887, is now spearheaded by Nizzy Mathew, Chairwoman & Whole-time Director and Mathew Muthoottu, Managing Director.

 

The terms of each options of NCDs, offered under Issue are set out below:

 


Net proceeds of the Issue will be utilized for the purpose of onward lending, financing, and for repayment/prepayment of principal and interest on borrowings of the Company (at least 75%) - and the rest (up to 25%) for general corporate purposes.

 

The Secured and Unsecured NCDs offered through Prospectus dated August 13, 2021 are proposed to be listed on the BSE.

The insurer has yet again joined hands with TV and film personality Mona Singh to demonstrate the features of this product.  

Commenting on the campaign, Abhishek Gupta, Chief Marketing Officer, Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance said, “Protection has become among the chief priorities for households in recent years. It has only grown in consideration since the pandemic struck and customers have been looking for an all-inclusive solution that addresses varied goal-based needs. The digital campaign rests on the back of 3 ad films which seek to bring to life, three optional offerings of the product– Live Long Benefit, Child’s Future Protect Benefit, and Limited Pay. “Women have a positive influence when it comes to financial planning and therefore play a critical role in advisory. While the number has been increasing, women advisors account for barely 30% of the total industry agency force. Aspirational advertising plays an important role in improving this number,” Gupta added.  

The films highlight life insurance advisory as a potential employment opportunity to women who are constrained by household responsibilities and want flexible working hours. The imagery in the ad films brings out this element by showing the protagonist engaged in day-to-day house chores while talking about her customer interactions.

Devyani International Limited makes a strong debut on the bourses

Mumbai, August 16, 2021: Devyani International Limited (the “Company”), the largest franchisee of Yum Brands in India, listed on the NSE at Rs. 140.90 and on BSE at Rs. 141.00 per share, approx. 56%  higher than its issue price of Rs. 90/-. Among the four scrips listed today, it was the best performing.

The shares of the company at day end closed at Rs. 123.35 per share on BSE and Rs. 122.60 per share on NSE.

This is the largest IPO by a QSR Company in India and is the second-highest subscribed IPO this year. The Public Offer has raised approx. 1,18,000 Cr demand from the investors – again a record performance.

While the Qualified Institutional Buyer category was subscribed 95.27 times, the Non-Institutional Investor category was subscribed 213.06 times and Employee Reserved category was subscribed 4.70 times.

 Paytm Insurance Broking has 11.3 million customers who bought over 31 million insurance products

India's leading digital financial services platform Paytm filed its DRHP on 15th July 2021 for its much anticipated Initial Public Offering. A look into the document shows that the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary Paytm Insurance Broking has over 11.3 million unique insurance customers in India as of March, 2021.  The company further stated in the DRHP that it has sold 31.5 million cumulative attachment products and insurance policies

 

Paytm Insurance Broking Private Limited, a registered insurance broker with IRDAI offers an insurance marketplace with products across auto, life and health insurance. Across these product lines the company also provides policy management and claim services for our customers. The company in its DRHP stated that Paytm Insurance Broking currently has direct integration with 47 insurance companies in India. In addition, in collaboration with insurance partners, it is able to offer low-ticket size insurance solutions, with customized premiums, such as mobile protection plans, and cyber fraud insurance.

 

The company in its DRHP said that it has the ability to offer data-driven product curation and tech innovations to existing and new customers in the ecosystem. It aims to leverage on its existing banking, wealth management, and credit risk model creation engines, it will be able to bundle insurance products onto existing Paytm use cases, as well as cross-sell other Paytm products to new customers, the company said in its prospectus.

 

As Paytm Insurance Broking Private Limited expands beyond an insurance marketplace, using customer insights, it will be able to offer the most appropriate insurance products to customers, it stated in the DRHP.

Mumbai, August 16, 2021: Gujarat based Exxaro Tiles Limited, one of the leading manufacturer of vitrified tiles in India having one of the highest operating profit margins in the organized ceramic industry; listed at BSE and NSE at Rs. 126 per share, a 5% per cent premium over its issue price of Rs. 120. The shares of the company at day end closed at Rs. 132.25 per share on BSE and Rs. 132.30 per share on NSE. The initial public offering was offered at a lower price band of Rs. 118 per share and higher price band of Rs. 120.

As per BSE, the total quantity traded stood at 7.41 lac shares with a delivery quantity percentage of 100%. Quantity traded and delivery percentage at NSE was approx. 46.33 lacs shares. Total Turnover (BSE+NSE) on Day 1 stood at Rs 69.29 crores.

The Market Capitalization of the Company post today’s closing price stood at Rs. 591.70 crore as per BSE and Rs. 591.92 crore as per NSE.

The Offer was a complete offer for sale (“Offer for Sale”) at the upper price band of Rs. 120 per share, received bids of 25,84,73,750 shares against the offered 1,14,50,675 equity shares. The portion reserved for retail investors was subscribed 39.88 times. While the Qualified Institutional Buyer category was subscribed 17.67 times, the Non-Institutional Investor category was subscribed 5.36 times and Employee Reserved category was subscribed 2.53 times.

Key brokerage houses like Arihant Capital, SMC Global, Canara Bank Securities, HEM Securities have given recommendations of "Subscribe" to the issue for long term perspective while highlighting the key strengths of the company. Exxaro has two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities which are located at Padra and Talod respectively in Gujarat with a combined installed production capacity of 132,00,000 sq. mt. p.a. Notably, Talod Unit is one of the single largest plant for manufacturing glazed vitrified tiles under one roof in India.
